Our Story

Taking its inspiration from the creative reputation of St Ives, and sharing its name with the same surfing Irish saint, Ivesley also borrows some of the metropolitan media glamour of the Ivy restaurant in London and of its now-famous, once-secret Club.

Founder and lead consultant David Williams has a background in broadsheet journalism and has worked for some of the biggest higher-education and publishing brands.

His interests include a fascination with the way artefacts, symbols and gatherings can be used to define cultural and ethnic identity, while his writing includes books on football fandom and medieval cults.

Ivesley brings together this creative, journalistic CV with David’s significant experience of UK, European and global universities and business schools – both in-house and client-facing.

His vision for Ivesley is that it should offer educational leaders an opportunity to tell their corporate and philanthropic narratives using the best copywriting, art-direction, design and event-management talent available.

Most branding and marketing agencies struggle in the complex, nuanced world of higher education; David has hosted donors, interviewed Nobel Prize winners and profiled Vice-Chancellors so understands your world and its multiple, competing narratives.

He also has the network across the sector which allows him to draw together talent and expertise for each of the projects that Ivesley takes on.
